Surgical Pack Person

Position Details: Our hospital in Overland Park, KS is looking for and assistant for the surgery department. This position will be responsible for the following tasks: Maintenance, cleanliness, and sterility of all surgical instruments, packs, and equipment. Rotation of sterile packs. Resterilization and rewrapping of packs and instruments once they have expired. Timely turnover of packs and instruments. Timely turnover of surgery laundry. Timely “turnover” of the OR between surgeries. Set up appropriately for the next surgery. Daily stocking of the OR. Daily cleanliness and organization of the prep area. Wipe down scrub sink and counters. Finish all packs at end of day. Straighten and restock drawers and cabinets daily. Maintenance of the autoclave and EO’s. Daily wipe down of the autoclave chamber. Biweekly deep cleaning of the autoclave. Monthly biological tests of the autoclave and EO’s.
The ideal candidate will have a general understanding of surgical procedures and anticipate packs and instruments, understanding of aseptic technique and the sterilization process, and understanding of surgery instruments and their use. They will also posses: the desire to learn and improve skills, accountability and integrity, good communication skills, self motivation, and be able to work independently, as well as, value position and importance within the business.
