CBS: Firefighter’s dog attacked by wild boar dies

Lutz, Florida — 10 News has learned that Dacota, the dog attacked by a wild boar, in Lutz Wednesday morning died from her injuries Thursday afternoon.

BluePearl Veterinary say did all they could to save Dacota, but his injuries were just too great. The Australian Shepherd suffered from severe trauma to his body and an infection as a result. His organs failed to maintain normal functions and his blood pressure dropped, vets say.

Towards the end they say, Dacota wasn’t able to breath normally on his own and had to be assisted by members of the critical care team. She died just before 4 p.m. today.

BluePearl has offered their condolences to Dacota’s family and are grateful for all the help the community has given through Frankie’s Friends for medical care.
