WHY PHILADELPHIA?
Philadelphia

There’s a whole lot of history here! Our city hosted the Continental Congress, where the Declaration of Independence was adopted and signed. It also served briefly as the nation’s capital.

• Philadelphia is a city of firsts. It was home to the country’s first newspaper, first hospital, first medical school and first zoo.

• We love the arts. Philadelphia boasts more Impressionist paintings than any other city outside Paris. We also have more than 2,000 outdoor murals, earning us the title of “mural capital of the U.S.”

• You probably know about our cheesesteaks. But did you know Philadelphia is also home to the Wing Bowl, a chicken wing eating contest that draws as many as 200,000 people?

• Our sports teams are a big deal. We root for the Phillies, the Flyers, the Eagles and the 76ers.

• Reading Terminal Market is a foodie paradise! It’s a one-stop shop for everything from local produce and delicious sandwiches to artisanal cheeses and pastries. It attracts more than six million visitors each year.

• Spend some time hanging out at Rittenhouse Square or the Piazza. There’s always something interesting to see or do.

• For a major metropolitan area, homes are surprisingly affordable. The median home value for the Philadelphia metro area is currently $189,600, according to Zillow.com.

• We know you’re dying to climb the stairs of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, just like Rocky. But be sure to go inside and see the amazing collection of art, too.

• We’re known as the City of Brotherly Love, and we have no doubt you’ll love it here!
