Spotlight on: Veterinary Dermatology

Dr. Christopher Reeder, DVM, board-certified in Veterinary Dermatology

I chose dermatology because it provides the basis to improve and maintain the human-animal bond. The satisfaction of seeing a beloved fur family member become well again is a huge blessing in this profession.

Dr. Christopher Reeder

If your dog or cat frequently licks, chews or scratches a certain area, they may have a skin condition. Just like people, pets can develop skin rashes, skin allergies or other skin problems. At our BluePearl Pet Hospital in Franklin, Dr. Christopher Reeder, DVM and board-certified in Veterinary Dermatology, has seen them all!

To give itch relief for dogs and cats, Dr. Reeder performs a variety of dermatology procedures, including a special type of pet allergy testing. This allergy test is called Intradermal (meaning “into the skin”) Allergy Testing – or IDAT. The IDAT test provides up to five times more information that standard blood allergy testing.

Dr. Reeder can also test and treat:

  • Lupus
  • Chronic ear infections and inflammation
  • Cysts and skin tumors
  • Hot spots
  • Skin cancer and more
