DVMDr. Jared Brethouwer enjoys all aspects of emergency medicine and has a special interest in cardiopulmonary medicine and blood disorders.
Dr. Brethouwer is the medical director of all BluePearl Pet Hospitals in the greater Phoenix area.

Alexandra Coats
DVMDr. Alexandra Coats is a small animal medicine & surgery intern. Her clinical interests include soft-tissue surgery, specifically oncology ccases involving advanced reconstructive procedures. She’s also very interested in interventional radiology for advanced cardiothoracic procedures. Dr. Coats has recently been exposed to laparoscopic surgery and would love to advance her knowledge in this area of surgery. Beyond surgery, she’s also interested in dentistry and neurology.

Dr. Coats is originally from Rapid City, SD and she returns when possible to visit family. She has a shelter mutt named Falah that she adopted during her undergraduate studies. She also lives with a mini dachshund named Walter.
Kyrsten Gibson
MS, DVMDr. Kyrsten Gibson is a small animal medicine & surgery intern. She craves emergency and critical care cases. Her goal is to travel between Texas and Arizona as a small animal criticalist with involvement in large animal emergencies.

In her free time, Dr. Gibson enjoys hiking, wake boarding, reading and traveling. She has a black lab named Wrigley, a mini Aussie named Ryleigh and a pocket pittie named Remi. Dr. Gibson was born and raised in Texas and returns when possible to visit family.
Marangely Santiago

Jonathan Schnier

With an active lifestyle, Dr. Schnier’s favorite pastimes include running, hiking, alpine skiing, sea kayaking and scuba diving. He and his wife, also a veterinarian, have two sons and a number of pets: two Siberian huskies, one cat, two geckos and a snake.

DVMDr. Selina Velasquez is an Arizona native, born and raised in northern Phoenix. She is the “oddball” who enjoys the heat. During her internship with the Emergency Animal Clinic, she realized that she enjoys emergency medicine but also has a clinical interest in cardiology.
