Rebecca Rittenberg, DVM
On The Job
After a one-year internship focused on gaining a variety of experiences and knowledge in small animal medicine and surgery, Dr. Rebecca Rittenberg decided to enter BluePearl’s teaching program as an internal medicine resident. Similar to a physician’s track toward board certification, a veterinary residency lasts several years and provides Dr. Rittenberg with a deeper understanding of surgery.
Internship, Small Animal Medicine & Surgery, VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital, Hollywood FL
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, University of Minnesota, St. Paul
Bachelor of Arts, Judaic Studies, University of Miami, Florida
Dr. Rittenberg has a varied history of volunteer service as a veterinary team member for a dog sled race in Minnesota and a ministry team member for a number of years serving meals to homeless men in South Carolina. During her sophomore year in college in Miami, she began a two-year internship with the International Commission on Holocaust Era Insurance Claims. She also met a Holocaust survivor through a college course, and the friendship they developed led to her authoring and publishing his memoir, “Hakl Makl: The Life of Arno Erban Before, During, and After the Holocaust.”
It’s no surprise that Dr. Rittenberg loves people, and she also loves to travel, attend plays and concerts, and go hiking with her husband and dog. Sababa is a mixed breed that loves running on the beach, playing with her cousins and sneaking on the sofa when she thinks no one is watching. Jondalar, is Dr. Rittenberg’s three-legged Miami street cat, who she adopted from the emergency room.
