ATLANTA – Pet owners seeking advanced specialty and emergency veterinary care have an important new resource with the opening of a cutting-edge pet hospital in Atlanta’s Westside.
BluePearl Veterinary Partners, a leader in veterinary medicine with more than 60 hospitals throughout the country, today announced the opening of the new hospital, located at 1071 Howell Mill Rd.
The organization, founded in 1995 as Georgia Veterinary Specialists, was one of the first to provide specialty medical care to pets in the Atlanta area. In 2010, it joined BluePearl and continued to grow to meet the needs of the area. The new location on Atlanta’s up and coming Westside will complement the other two BluePearl Georgia hospitals — one in Sandy Spring and the other in Gwinnett – allowing greater access to care for more pet owners.
“From our first days at Georgia Veterinary Specialists more than 20 years ago, we’ve worked hard to earn the community’s trust and to provide patients with comprehensive and compassionate care,” said Dr. Mark Dorfman, Group Medical Director for BluePearl. “Now as BluePearl Georgia, we are so proud and pleased to offer these services in our newest location. We hope you’ll stop in and visit.”
Pets with eye problems, chronic illnesses or worn-out knees or joints can come to BluePearl-Westside for expert medical care from skilled veterinarians. In addition, the hospital’s ER will be open 24 hours a day, every day of the year, with veterinarians always ready for pets who have suffered accidents or emergencies.
The hospital features an open layout with a patient-care focus. It also offers advanced equipment, similar to that found in a human hospital, including digital radiography, ultrasound and endoscopes, which can be used in place of costly surgery if pets have ingested something they shouldn’t have.
More than 40 emergency and specialty veterinary doctors work for BluePearl in the greater Atlanta area. BluePearl specialists have received years of additional training and study to be certified as experts within their specialties.
Among the services offered at BluePearl-Westside are:
- Critical care
- Emergency medicine
- Integrative medicine and nutrition
- Internal medicine
BluePearl hospitals offer specialty and emergency veterinary care only and do not provide preventative or primary care. BluePearl veterinarians partner with family veterinarians to share clinical information about any medical services provided and collaborate to create treatment plans.
