CHICAGO – BluePearl Veterinary Partners is scheduled to open an advanced specialty and emergency veterinary hospital in Northfield, Tuesday.

“As our pets have become more integrated into our families, we have come to want and expect the same quality of medical care for them as we want for our human family members,” said Dr. Scott Averill, veterinary surgeon and medical director of BluePearl’s Northfield hospital. “I am proud that we offer advanced emergency, diagnostic and treatment options to the pets of the North Shore in this pet friendly and people friendly environment.”

The new hospital features an open layout design to facilitate collaboration amongst the team of specialty doctors. It boasts two different surgical operating suites, one for soft-tissue related surgeries and one for orthopedic surgeries. Each suite is capable of handling two patients at the same time.

More than 20 emergency and specialty veterinary doctors work for BluePearl in the greater Chicago metropolitan area with specialty services in emergency medicine, internal medicine and cardiology, oncology, ophthalmology(in August), radiology and diagnostic imaging, and surgery.

With the new hospital, there will also be new services and treatments, including critical care and the addition of radioactive iodine for use in treating hyperthyroidism.

Four more doctors are joining BluePearl’s Chicagoland team over the next few weeks, adding critical care and ophthalmology to the services offered.

The new BluePearl hospital is located at 820 West Frontage Road, Northfield, Illinois 60093, and will replace the existing BluePearl Veterinary Partners specialty and emergency hospital located in Northbrook.
