Meesha will be discharged from BluePearl’s Blaine hospital today (July 7, 2016.)
“She is doing great and going home this afternoon. She is adorable,” said Dr. Kathryn Kaufman, who performed the operation to remove the tumor.
The operation took about three and a half hours Wednesday afternoon. Kaufman is a BluePearl veterinarian who has received years of additional training to become board-certified in veterinary surgery.
“It’s amazing, it couldn’t have been done any more beautifully,” said Liz Gigler, who is Meesha’s foster mom. She visited the dog after the Wednesday afternoon surgery, and is raising money for her care. Gigler is the founder of the group Rescued Pets are Wonderful.
Background on Meesha’s story, along with before-and-after pictures, can be found in this previous news release.
Dramatic videos of Meesha when she had the tumor can be found on Meesha’s Facebook page.
Additional testing of the tumor is being performed. More will be known about Meesha’s long-term prognosis afterward.
In spite of her large tumor, Meesha has always been a playful and friendly pup.
“She loves life more than any dog I’ve ever met,” Gigler said. “The second anyone comes over she goes belly-up to have her belly rubbed.”
