The 5-year-old male red kangaroo, named Little Grey, is one of the more than 12,000 animals that call Busch Gardens Tampa home. The kangaroo was scheduled to have a CT scan performed in hopes of understanding a lung abscess he has developed.

Before the CT scan, BluePearl ophthalmologists performed an advanced eye exam called an ophthalmoscopy. According to Michau, Little Grey’s eyes are in excellent health.

“We’ve been to Busch Gardens and seen their fantastic Animal Care Center where they provide world-class veterinary care to thousands of animals. That makes us even more proud that in the rare instances local zoos, rescues and theme parks need external veterinary service, they choose our state of the art hospital,” said Dr. Erick Mears, medical director of BluePearl in Tampa. “It’s also wonderful to see just how much care and time our partners at Busch Gardens spend on ensuring their animals maintain excellent health and when they do become ill, that they receive the best possible care available.”

While at BluePearl, Little Grey was also given an abdominal ultrasound by a board-certified radiologist. Those results showed no abnormalities.
