CPR isn’t just for humans.
BluePearl held a special training event for firefighters in Tennessee.
Dr. Kristen Datte, DVM at BluePearl in Franklin, TN, demonstrated the proper techniques for performing pet CPR on large and small pets at the Rutherford County fire rescue station.
All participants were able to practice on a rubber demo dog to get a feel for how to do compressions, check for a pulse, and position oxygen masks.
Firefighters not only risk their lives to save humans, they also risk their lives to save our beloved family pets, who just like humans, need CPR. “If the proper techniques are used, there is a chance that a pet can be revived and may not suffer any negative effects,” said Dr. Datte.
