Kristyn Commerford, DVM, CVA
Senior Clinician, Emergency Medicine
On The Job
Dr. Kristyn Commerford became a veterinarian because she owned a very colic-prone horse in middle/high school and was frustrated by her limited ability to help him while waiting for the veterinarian. She’s always enjoyed working with animals and shadowed veterinarians during high school. The fact that she excelled in math and science helped make her career choice an easy one. Dr. Commerford’s particular interests include internal medicine, behavioral and acupuncture cases.
Certification, Veterinary Acupuncture, Chi Institute Veterinary Acupuncture
Internship, Equine Medicine & Surgery, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, North Carolina State University, Raleigh
Bachelor of Science, Animal Science, North Carolina State University, Raleigh
Dr. Commerford likes to spend her free time with her husband and re-training off-the-track thoroughbreds to be hunter/equitation show horses. She always works in obedience training with her two German shepherds, Ben and Fred, and her German shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix, Patrick. In addition to her dogs, she has a quarter horse gelding, Coosa, a thoroughbred gelding, Thunder, and a miniature donkey named Cletus.
