On The Job
Dr. Lauren Guerra worked as a veterinary technician before and during veterinary school. Always fascinated by exotic animals, she has worked throughout Texas and in Belize, Guatemala and South Africa with a wide variety of species. With white tail deer, she has performed everything from tonsil biopsies to artificial insemination. She has also worked with cheetahs, African grey parrots and cape buffaloes.

Dr. Guerra has volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and a local food bank. She enjoys singing, Krav Maga, a form of self-defense, traveling, hiking and wildlife and nature photography. Her faithful companions include two female dogs, a border collie and shepherd/collie mix, and two Quaker parrots who are wonderful talkers and have picked up a variety of words and phrases.
