On Wednesday January 3, 2013 our beloved Oscar was laid to rest peacefully in our arms under the care of BluePearl emergency doctors. It happened so suddenly for us and Oscar. Although, he was 16 years old and had a beautiful long life, saying goodbye to him was more difficult than we could have ever imagined.
We were in a state of shock for 24 hours when he first became ill and we rushed him to the ER at 10 p.m. and when we chose to let him go peacefully the next afternoon. The professionalism of the staff at BluePearl was amazing. The minute we carried him in to the ER the front desk staff noticed he was having difficulty breathing and paged triage. A vet tech immediately rushed out and took Oscar into her arms. He was placed on oxygen right away for comfort.
It was all very difficult from that moment on as we were informed of his poor prognosis with pleural effusion and a malignant growth. The staff including front desk, vet techs, and ER vets were outstanding. Bedside manners were so gentle and caring. We knew the right thing was to let go of Oscar and we had the kind support and understanding staff at BluePearl with us the entire time.
Oscar is so terribly missed by all of us at home including his four pet siblings – Josie, Louie, Gigi and Sally. We think of him everyday and feel blessed to have been loved by his gentle energy. Thank you BluePearl for turning such a difficult time in our life into a beautiful moment of peace and love .
