Gussy, my 4.5-year-old Cairn terrier, was diagnosed with a basal cell carcinoma on his tongue and my vet recommended Dr. Lachowicz at BluePearl. Gussy’s tumor was located very close to a major artery. They could not be sure all the cancer was removed during the biopsy, so it was recommended that Gussy have 15 radiation treatments over the course of 3 weeks to ensure he would be cancer free. Dr. Lachowicz was great with my dog, but I didn’t want to do this. I was sure it would be traumatizing. I knew my dog would be very anxious, panting, shaking and jumping on me to be held. Gussy hates going to the vet.
Well, I was wrong. Very wrong. Gussy loved Dr. Lachowicz and his wonderful team of oncologists. He would run to them every day without looking back for me. The staff was super friendly, smart and helpful. This was not traumatizing to Gussy; it was really fun for him. I’m extremely grateful to BluePearl and their bedside manner. I can now rest assured that, if anything else happens to Gussy, there are people who I can trust to give my dog the best possible care.
Thank you all.
