Indigo is a 3-year-old Bombay cat that was a tiny stray kitten in my aunt’s backyard and adopted me. We moved to Manhattan in 2014, and in 2015, after a cocktail party, 2-year-old Indigo accidentally knocked over a glass water pitcher and must have jumped onto it and severed her Achilles tendon. I rushed her to her regular vet, and they recommended BluePearl, as this was a specialty surgery that they did not do. They gave her pain meds, and we scheduled an appointment at BluePearl in Midtown Manhattan for the next day.
Needless to say, I was a wreck. My baby was hurt and needed major surgery! When I met Dr. Marc Greenberg, I was instantly at ease. I knew Indigo would be in safe hands with him and his wonderfully caring staff. The surgery was done the following day, and I was given updates throughout. I can’t say enough how patient and understanding the BluePearl Manhattan staff are! They answered all of my questions and helped me with the payment and paperwork.
When I picked Indigo up the next day, she had a bandage from hip to toes and was pretty sleepy from the anesthesia. I was told to bring her in once a week for bandage changes, which I did, and she got better and stronger each week. After 4 weeks, the bandages came off, and she had a shriveled leg that she needed to build up muscle in again, which she did quickly. Indigo went for a 12-week checkup and was pronounced healed!
A year later, Indigo is an active 3 year-old and has no problem running, jumping and playing. You would never know that she had been hurt, and I attribute that to Dr. Greenberg and BluePearl Manhattan. I cannot thank them enough for taking care of my baby and of me. I have recommended them to friends in NYC, and if Indigo ever needs Emergency Care again, I will not hesitate to go back to BluePearl!
