When we walked in to BluePearl late on a Thursday night, I knew it was to say goodbye to our sweet, precious Marlee. She was losing her battle with lymphoma, and had taken a sudden turn with difficulty breathing while trying to rest or sleep.
Marlee had been by my side through breakups, marriage, moves, death, miscarriage, infertility and finally she became a mama to our 4-year-old daughter. I wanted to do right by her as she had always done for me…but needed reassurance of the timing.
The entire staff was so loving, kind, compassionate and I felt like I had known them, and them us for the past 10 years. Ironically, it was the first time I had set foot in the building. I wish the circumstances had been different, but they made a difficult decision, and an excruciating night, a little easier.
When I went to pick up Marlee’s ashes, the entire staff had signed a personalized card with condolences, and those that were there that night, were kind enough to share there loving impression of our sweet dog. While grieving, I am so grateful that Marlee and I walked through that door and no other door that night. Such special people work at this hospital, and they really get it. They know how important our pets are to us.
