Our beautiful Boxer, Gambit, became suddenly ill and was treated for pancreatitis. Upon a final check at our regular vet it was determined that Gambit was retaining fluid in his chest and abdomen and it was recommended by our vet to go to BluePearl to have an ultrasound to see what else was ailing our big boy.
Dr. Yakubik quickly gave us answers, although not answers we wanted to hear, but answers we needed to hear. It was determined that he was suffering from congestive heart failure and there was unfortunately nothing that we could do.
Dr. Yakubik, Ruthie (front desk), and Steve (ER Supervisor) at Blue Pearl, who were working the evening we were there did everything in their power to make sure we were as comfortable as possible during Gambit’s final moments. We were able to spend time with him in a private room to say our goodbyes and get in our final hugs and kisses. They provided him with a peaceful passing into doggie heaven where we know we will be seeing him again one day.
Although this has been one of the hardest things that my fiance and I have had to deal with, it was made a little easier by the amazing staff at BluePearl who went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. We cannot say thank you enough.
