BluePearl Pet Hospice understands how difficult navigating the end-of-life journey can be, which is why we are here to be your partner in care. Whether your patient may benefit from Comfort Care or in-home euthanasia services, we can provide the additional time and support needed as our visits are measured in hours, not minutes. And as your partner, we will take a collaborative approach to your patient’s care while keeping you informed every step of the way.
How can you refer clients to Pet Hospice?
- Primary veterinarians and clients can visit the pet hospice and comfort care page on our website to learn about our service areas.
- Clients can schedule a virtual quality of life consultation to have their questions answered
When should a patient and family be referred to Pet Hospice?
When a patient is first diagnosed with a life-limiting disease or at the first sign of decline and a family wishes for Comfort Care services. Examples may include:
- Progressive diseases such as arthritis, kidney disease, or heart failure
- Incurable illnesses, such as cancer
- Long-term disability such as poor mobility, neurological disorders, or cognitive dysfunction
- Clients who do not wish to pursue additional diagnostics, surgery, or other therapies but want comfort-oriented care
- Clients who do wish to pursue additional treatments, such as chemotherapy, but would benefit from additional support
- When a family wishes for an in-depth conversation about their pet’s quality of life or are struggling with the decision of when to euthanize
- When clients would prefer an in-home euthanasia for their pet
