The veterinary nutrition team at BluePearl Pet Hospital in Irvine offers a variety of services for clients seeking to optimize their pets’ health and complement other medical treatment plans. All clinical nutrition appointments are conducted via phone or in person.

1. Voluntary commercial diet consultation: A list of appropriate commercial options is provided to the client with specific feeding guidelines, treat allowances, and monitoring parameters.

Anticipated turnaround time is 10-14 business days after the official consultation appointment.

2. Weight loss consultation: Individualized weight loss plan is provided to the client. Bimonthly weigh-ins and check-ins to monitor progress will incur a small recheck fee if done in person. Email follow-up is available for any nutrition-related concerns or questions.

3. Homemade diet consultation: Patient-specific homemade diet recipe(s) are formulated and provided to the client based on the patient’s individual disease state. Additional recipes can be requested at a discounted rate after the first. Recommendations include specific cooking directions, feeding guidelines, treat allowances, and monitoring parameters.

Use of human/tablet supplements will incur a $50 additional fee.

4. Combination homemade and commercial diet consultation: Please see the description from options 1 and 3.

5. Homemade diet analysis: Technical analysis of the patient’s homemade diet using recipe/information supplied by the client. Often needed to demonstrate nutritional deficiencies or excesses in online recipes.

This service does not include “fixing” the diet to make it appropriate.

Additional services.

1. Supplementation/nutraceutical review: Using existing medical records and product information, recommendations are made regards dosing, contamination, or discontinuation of supplements.

Cost is dependent on the number of supplements.

2. Assisted feeding consultation (any type of feeding tube/port): Client will receive appropriate liquid diets/liquid diet blends (for nasogastric or jejunostomy tubes) or slurried diet blends (esophagostomy or gastrostomy tubes), feeding guidelines, and monitoring parameters based on the patient’s disease processes. Commercial options for volitional intake will also be provided.

Additional fees of $100 will incur for emergency cases needed within 24-48 hours.
