Dr. Nolan Chalifoux’s passion for critical care is driven by the ability to work as a team, devoting efforts to the sickest patients, nursing them back to health and giving them a second chance. His clinical interests include:

  • Sepsis
  • Respiratory failure and mechanical ventilation
  • Plasmapheresis and hemodialysis for the management of acute intoxication and kidney injuries

 

Dr. Chalifoux is one of few veterinarians in the region to offer plasmapheresis and hemodialysis to pets.

Dr. Chalifoux enjoys spending time with his family and friends, enjoying the Philadelphia restaurant scene and attending live music events. He lives with his partner (also a veterinarian) and their two cats, Swift and Cayenne, and a ferret named Hashbrown.

Making an Appointment with Dr. Chalifoux

Our plasmapheresis and hemodialysis team is available by appointment with or without a referral from your pet's primary veterinarian.

Here is what to expect before, during and after your first visit:

  • An initial appointment can be made by calling the hospital directly or via a referral from your pet's primary vet.
  • We will obtain records from your primary or emergency vet before your first visit. Prior to your visit, we will collaborate with your primary vet to discuss your pet’s history and current condition.
  • When you arrive, our team will do an exam and additional diagnostics as needed.
  • We will discuss your pet's diagnosis and condition thoroughly in person. You will have an opportunity to ask as many questions as needed.
  • Our team will provide a detailed treatment plan, along with discharge instructions and recommended medications. A recheck appointment will be scheduled, and you’ll be advised of symptoms to watch for at home.
  • Our team is available by email or phone for any concerns or follow-up questions after your visit.
