When not working, Dr. Harlow enjoys wire wrapping, drawing and reading. She and her husband have three cats, two snakes and fish.

After earning his veterinary degree in India, Dr. Deepak Kumar relocated to the United States and earned his Program for the Assessment of Veterinary Education Equivalence (PAVE®) certificate from Oklahoma State University. His interests in the field of small animal veterinary medicine include small animal surgery, internal medicine and ultrasound.

Dr. Michael Lesser’s special interests include non-invasive techniques like echocardiography, color flow doppler ultrasound, electrocardiography, and blood pressure monitoring. He finds cases involving pacemaker implantation, balloon valvuloplasty, angiography, and transcatheter occlusion for patent ductus arteriosus particularly gratifying.

Dr. Katie O’Hearn serves as the medical director for BluePearl Monterey, bringing more than 20 years of clinical experience in emergency medicine, urgent care and general surgery. As a seasoned hospital leader, she is dedicated to maintaining the highest clinical standards and strategically optimizing patient care during critical moments.

Dr. O’Hearn thrives on the fast-paced challenges of emergency medicine, viewing it as a profound opportunity to utilize her skill set and support families through crisis. Her ultimate professional reward is seeing a sick patient recover and reunite with their loved ones.

A loyal resident of the Monterey area for the last 10 years, Dr. O’hearn balances the intensity of the specialty hospital with a rich home life. She shares her time with her husband and daughter and their beloved pets – a chocolate Lab, a golden retriever, charismatic rescue goats (Peanut Butter and Jelly) and 12 chickens.

In her free time, you can find her doing hot Pilates, enjoying a book or getting steps in with her dogs on the beach.

Dr. Stephanie Paclot’s wide-ranging experience treating multiple species gives her a broader approach to diagnosing and treating her patients. She practices medicine with an open mind and focus on her patients’ quality of life. Her special interests include toxicities, emergency surgery, and critical care for hospitalized patients.

Outside of work, Dr. Paclot enjoys hiking with her husband and Siberian husky, taking long walks on the beautiful beach, traveling the world and discovering new cultures, practicing yoga and ballroom dancing, sewing, cooking, and surfing.

Dr. Tanía Power brings over a decade of experience in general practice and emergency medicine to the BluePearl team. Her clinical practice centers collaboration with clients to achieve the best individualized patient care.

Dr. Power spent her early childhood in rural Alaska and Puerto Rico before her family settled in Mendocino County in Northern California. Currently, she shares her home with her daughter Xenia, her dog Herbie and her hamster Agnes.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time in nature, reading, dancing, music and spending quality time with her family and friends.

Dr. Debra Rackear has been in practice in all aspects of internal medicine for over 36 years, including treating blood disorders, endocrine abnormalities and renal and hepatic dysfunctions. She finds it gratifying to work with clients to see the big picture of all the patient’s medical issues and how she can proceed treatment for that individual. Dr. Rackear believes every patient and client creates a unique situation that requires an individualized approach.

Dr. Rackear spends her free time with her German shepherds and her husband. She enjoys singing, growing orchids, champagne tastings and photographing nature during her hikes.

Dr. Bill Sullenberger thrives on the variability of emergency cases, including trauma, toxicities, soft tissue surgeries, and the management of acute and chronic illnesses. He has a special interest for avian and exotic animals.

Dr. Sullenberger is the son of an emergency veterinarian and husband to a veterinary rehabilitation therapist. He is a dedicated emergency clinician who helped open and build our BluePearl Pet Hospital in Monterey.
