Stories from the Heart
We Said Goodbye On New Year's Eve

Abby, my precious eleven year old golden retriever, had to be mercifully sent to rest on New Years Eve. The veterinary hospital to which I had taken her (and where she received excellent care) would not allow me or my wife into the facility due to their Covid policies to be with Abby in her final moments. We called BluePearl in Cary and were told that due to the nature of the procedure we would be allowed into a private suite where we could spend as much time as we wished saying goodbye to our dearly loved companion.
When it was time, Dr. Amanda Crouthamel and her staff were indescribably gentle and kind to Abby in sending her off. They were equally kind and understanding of my wife and me, giving us time and privacy to cry and hug our dear pet. We feel such gratitude to the doctor and her staff. We certainly were in the right place with the right people to get through an evening of fear and sorrow. Dr Crouthamel’s follow up communication with us was a remarkable gesture of true professionalism and compassion. She was wonderful.
