Michael Reems
DVM, MS, DACVS (SA)Dr. Michael Reems is particularly interested in surgical oncology – including cancer removal and reconstruction – as well as minimally invasive procedures such as arthroscopy, laparoscopy, and thoracoscopy. Some of the procedures he performs include:
- Urinary bladder and urethral stone removal (cystoscopy)
- Lung lobectomy
- Subtotal pericardiectomy for heart-based cancer
- Treatment of pericardial effusion
- Liver biopsies
- Ovarian remnant ovariectomy
- Spay and cryptorchid neuter for retained abdominal testicles
- Prophylactic gastropexy for prevention of GDV in dogs
- Cardiovascular procedures such as Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) repair
Dr. Reems was awarded first place in the prestigious international Resident Research Presentation from the American College of Veterinary Surgeons for his work on interlocking nails for fractures. He has completed specialized training in:
- Circular external skeletal fixation fracture repair
- Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA)
- Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO)
- CORA-Based Leveling Osteotomy (CBLO) for cranial cruciate ligament tears
- Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair (TEER) using V-Clamp for mitral valve heart disease in dogs
