Toby has been on quite the journey.
Back in 2024, what started as a sudden yelp while going up the stairs quickly became every pet parent’s worst nightmare. Within hours, Toby began struggling to walk. By the next morning, he could no longer hold himself up and winced in pain with even the slightest movement.
His family and owner, Stacy, rushed him to Banfield, where IVDD was suspected and Toby was referred to the University of Missouri. There, they received an unexpected diagnosis: meningitis.
For both Stacy and Toby, the diagnosis changed everything. But with treatment and time, Toby began to make progress.
When the family moved to Michigan, Toby continued his care with Dr. Jared Galle at BluePearl Farmington. What followed was a long road of recovery, with Toby gradually regaining his strength and independence.
Then came another move – this time to Louisiana. Today, Toby continues his care with the team at BluePearl North Dallas.
Throughout it all, Toby’s family has watched him overcome challenges they once feared he might never get past. He went from being unable to stand, to needing help just to go outside, to walking and eventually running on his own.
Every step forward has been something to celebrate.
For Toby’s family, one of the most meaningful parts of this story has been knowing that wherever life takes them, he continues to have compassionate veterinary teams supporting his care. From BluePearl Farmington Hills to BluePearl North Dallas, Toby’s BluePearl teams have been there to support him and his family through each new chapter.
“Our journey isn’t over, but thanks to all of you, Toby gets to keep doing what he loves – exploring the world one happy step at a time,” Stacy said.
Today, Toby is doing well and enjoying the adventures that once seemed so uncertain. His story is a reminder of just how much progress can happen one step at a time — and how meaningful it can be when dedicated veterinary teams are there to support a pet and their family along the way.
We’re so happy to be part of Toby’s story, keeping him on adventures with his family.
