Pet hospitalization at BluePearl Peoria — FAQ.
Hospitalization may be recommended by our emergency team if your pet is unable to stabilize with initial treatment, requires IV medications or fluids, needs oxygen support or pain management, is recovering from surgery or trauma, or requires close monitoring after conditions such as heatstroke, seizures, or collapse. This allows us to provide continuous care and respond swiftly to any changes in your pet's condition, ensuring they receive the best possible treatment.
During your pet's stay, a dedicated team of professionals will monitor their vitals around the clock. Your pet’s status is regularly reviewed by our doctors, and medications, fluids, and nutrition are tailored to meet their specific needs. If necessary, specialists in areas such as internal medicine or surgery may be consulted to provide additional expertise. Throughout the hospitalization, our focus remains on ensuring your pet's stability and comfort while maintaining open communication with you.
As a pet owner, you will be kept informed and involved in your pet's care. You will receive an admission summary and an initial plan outlining the course of treatment. Our team will provide updates, often twice daily, to keep you informed of your pet's progress. You are welcome to call us for additional updates or to ask any questions you may have. Upon discharge, you will receive clear and detailed instructions to continue your pet's care at home. Additionally, we will send all relevant records to your regular veterinarian to ensure seamless follow-up care.
Effective communication is a cornerstone of our care approach at BluePearl Peoria. We prioritize keeping you informed through regular updates and are always available to address any concerns or questions you may have. Our team is committed to providing you with a comprehensive understanding of your pet's condition and treatment plan, ensuring that you feel supported and involved throughout the hospitalization process.
