Our emergency team is made up of veterinarians, vet technicians and assistants, and support staff with rigorous training and experience in specialty medicine. The team works hand in hand to provide the comprehensive, compassionate care your pet needs and deserves. Because we’re a multidisciplinary hospital, the team can consult the expertise of other specialty departments, too.
Dr. Nikita Ahuja is most interested in working with exotics and endangered species and even has experience working with rhinos and lions in Africa.
Dr. Ahuja is also a fitness and dance instructor and loves going to the gym, hiking and spending time at the beach in her free time. She is hoping to adopt a dog soon!
Dr. Shari Brown particularly enjoys treating dental and dermatology cases.
Dr. Brown’s favorite pastimes include reading and traveling. She is married with three daughters and two cats, Cody and Flower.
Dr. Hillick enjoys reading, golf, cooking, piano, longboarding and volunteer work.
After working in primary care and emergency medicine in Chicago for 12 years, Dr. Joey Kallem joined us in Pittsburgh where she loves complicated medical emergencies. She also has a special interest in exotic animal medicine.
Married with two boys, Dr. Kallem is a black belt in karate and Tae Kwon Do. She also loves to read, paddle board and ride her horse Rudy. The family has two dogs, three cats, one lizard, two birds, one fish and a rat living in the house with them.
Dr. Katie Marino enjoys the spontaneity of emergency medicine and finds helping people and animals in emergency situations to be very rewarding. She is particularly interested in wound management.
In her down time, Dr. Marino enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her wife, their three dogs (Cooper, Oscar, and Willow), and each of their families.
Dr. Isabel Moran is most interested in critical cases that present with an oncology focus.
Dr. Moran enjoys cooking, reading and exploring the outdoors with her Labrador, Tar.
Dr. Casey Simchik finds laceration repairs, abscesses, toxicities, neurologic disorders and infectious diseases the most gratifying to treat.
Dr. Simchik enjoys running, photography, traveling and learning about other cultures. She also enjoys taking her mixed breed dog, Tenney, to the dog park and watching TV with her cat, Alley.
