Our surgery team is made up of veterinarians, vet technicians and assistants, and support staff with rigorous training and experience in specialty medicine. The team works hand in hand to provide the comprehensive, compassionate care your pet needs and deserves. Because we’re a multidisciplinary hospital, the team can consult the expertise of other specialty departments, too.
Dr. Henri Bianucci takes very seriously the trust that owners place in him to not only care for their pets, but often to put their pets’ lives in his hands. He considers it his responsibility to fulfill that trust by giving his best with every patient and every procedure.
Dr. Bianucci enjoys gardening and all the outdoor opportunities that life on the sea islands affords. He also loves spending time with his many pets, including his cat, Fence; ten dogs, Trixie, Pepe, Po, Lotus, Punkin, Corkie, Nigel, Pie, Little and Katie; horses, Ginny, Chief and Smurf; and chickens, Alfred III and Gloria III.
Dr. Sean Gallivan has over 20 years of specialty surgical experience. He finds pain management, complex fracture repair, hepato-biliary surgery and cruciate ligament disease the most gratifying to treat.
In his free time, Dr. Gallivan enjoys the beach, biking, kayaking, cooking and spending time with his wife, Mary, and their rescue dog, Jake.
Dr. Kelsey Goode enjoys being a part of innovative medicine and finds minimally invasive procedures such as laparoscopy and arthroscopy especially gratifying. Her professional research includes the 3D printing of bone guides for the correction of angular limb deformities.
Dr. Goode enjoys cycling, kayaking and traveling. She currently has four pets, including Henry, a goofy English black lab; Sam, a Norwegian Forest cat mix; and two new kittens, Alice and Olive.
Dr. Valerie Nesser’s professional interests include orthopedics, emergency surgery and minimally invasive surgery (arthroscopy, laparoscopy and thoracoscopy). Her goal is to provide cutting-edge surgical techniques that aim to minimize pain and recovery time while optimizing outcome and quality of life.
Dr. Nesser enjoys yoga, the outdoors (especially the beach), trying new restaurants and recipes and travel. She lives with her husband and pets, including two pointer-mix rescue dogs: Moose and Luna; and three cats: Leo, Loki and Piper.
Dr. Sean Schubmehl values being part of a closely collaborative medical team. His clinical interests include cardiothoracic surgery, minimally invasive surgery, and surgical emergencies, but he enjoys surgery of all kinds.
In his free time, Dr. Schubmehl enjoys CrossFit, kayaking, baking, and outdoor adventures with his dog, Dottie.
