Pet emergencies can be scary – we’re here to help you handle them.
We understand that seeing your pet sick, hurt or in distress can be stressful – especially if you don’t know what’s wrong. Fortunately, our experienced ER clinicians are prepared to take action and help.
Acting quickly in an emergency may save your pet’s life.
If your pet is experiencing an emergency, you’ll have an entire veterinary team helping them so you can get back to what matters most – spending precious moments together.
Experience makes all the difference.
Our emergency team is made up of veterinarians, vet technicians and assistants, and support staff with rigorous training and experience in specialty medicine. The team works hand in hand to provide the comprehensive, compassionate care your pet needs and deserves. Because we’re a multidisciplinary hospital, the team can consult the expertise of other specialty departments, too.
Dr. Sari Miller is interested in trauma and toxicity cases and finds surgical wound management especially gratifying.
Dr. Miller lives in Portland with her husband, kids, crazy dog and cool cat. She enjoys yoga, CrossFit, cooking and wine.
Dr. Heather Poncelow has spent her entire career watching the amazing things advanced veterinary medicine can do for companion animals. Through that, she has also seen how people will leave an appointment feeling guilty or afraid if they cannot or do not want to pursue extensive treatment for their pets.
Dr. Poncelow wants clients to know that hospice care is not “giving up” or a last resort. Pet Hospice is a valid and loving choice that supports your bond with your pet, keeps them out of the hospital and, most importantly, prioritizes your pet’s happiness. Palliative care does not require an imminent terminal diagnosis, nor does it require you to forego other treatments for your pet.
The hospice and palliative care that Dr. Poncelow provides focuses on maintaining a good quality of life with individualized plans to manage symptoms and pain.
Dr. Sierra Shoen is passionate about emergency medicine and providing the best care to clients and their pets.
